Mostly known as Di Wright in the years I spent living in and around Bellingen,
I now reside in Tighes Hill, Newcastle, not far from my daughter and her two sons.
Like Bellingen, Newcastle has reinvented itself with a focus on the arts and it’s accessibility within the community. My art too has transformed with the times as I now use a computer for much of my work. Horses for courses – a visual presence online needs artwork that best suits the representation.
The garden studio where I still paint occasionally looks like a Bellingen backyard rather than an inner city one. Gardening has a direct link with my sense of art – contours for flow, spaces in between, light and shade, dappling, points of interest and a little bit of chaos, evolving with the planning that doesn’t always go to plan.
Contemporary Works was the name of the studio gallery I ran at the Promenade down at the jetty in Coffs Harbour and is now the name of my homepage. I exhibited in Sydney and Newcastle and now design CD and DVD covers and make videoclips for local musos.
I am appreciative of the mid-north coast visual and performing artists that have shared their nurturing, knowledge and talents.
