Retired, in 1993 my husband decided to spend winters detecting for gold in the warmth of Western Australia.
This lifestyle involved long periods in remote areas, with the occasional company of prospectors around the campfire.
My primary interest in gold is wearing it! So a long-time vague wish to paint encouraged me to tackle watercolours. Painting became a way of life.
Travelling presented me with subjects to paint:Wild life, old settlements, interesting faces.
Over the years I have been fortunate in selling paintings regularly, and receiving commissions, especially portraits.
I was lucky to have Bathurst Regional Gallery accept a portrait of Proffesor Warren Somerville, curator of the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum for their collection, to be displayed at times both in the gallery and the museum.
