Kim Staples was born in Paddington, NSW and grew up mainly in the northern beaches of Sydney. From an early age she showed a natural talent and affinity for art and her early works were dominated by geometric shapes, graphical design and ink work.. Kim designed and sold business and greeting cards while still in her teenage years and after school continued to utilise her creative skills in drafting for 18 years.
In the 1970s Kim worked as an interior decorator in England. The training she acquired in colour still impacts her work today. On returning to Australia Kim decided to diversify her skills and this is when she began her professional development in the area of training and facilitation.
From 1995 to 2003 Kim studied the techniques of folk art, watercolour and acrylic painting. During this time she was strongly influenced by vibrant flowing colours.
Kim and her family moved to Port Macquarie, NSW in 2003. The natural beauty of the land inspired Kim to renew her passion in art by completing a Certificate IV in Visual Arts. Soon after this the natural synthesis of Kim’s professional and personal development journey led her to study and practice in the field of art therapy. On completion of her studies Kim began a career as an art tutor and art therapist.
Kim strongly believes that working in the art field has led to profound personal growth for her. One of her driving passions is to help people find a better physical and emotional well being through artistic expression.
Kim believes that art is the key to one’s soul.
