Lynne Bickhoff

Born in Staffordshire England, Lynne migrated to Australia in the sixties as a child. She resided with her family in the Illawarra region on the East Coast of Australia, quickly growing to love the south coast and explored both the beautiful beaches and adjoining rainforest areas. She commenced her working life in the city of Sydney and then marriage meant a move to the southern highlands in the quaint village of Berrima, NSW.

Her many life experiences are reflected in her works, ranging from urban scenes right through the whole range of coastal, country and outback scenes. She also enjoys figure work and portraits, really enjoying the challenge of capturing a personality. The diversity of her work is immense, covering many subjects.

In the 1990′s Lynne returned to the workforce again in Sydney and worked as a Personal Assistant to various Managers of large international corporations and it wasn’t until as late as 2007 that the opportunity arose to indulge in her passion for art full-time.

Largely self taught, Lynne has an instinctive feel for whatever media she is using and is never hesitant to explore new methods and medias. Art to her is a never ending study of life, portraying her experiences and emotions through the creative process.

She also describes herself as a colourist loving the bold, rich, earthy colours of Australia. Starting with an idea or a concept of what she would like to convey, this then develops into a visual expression, sometimes though it seems that the painting will take on its own persona and will develop into something else entirely. Being free to go along with the ride is one of the most exciting aspects of the creative process for Lynne. She paints passionately and almost non-stop finding it almost an obsession!

After leading what she describes as a gypsy life for 26 years, Lynne and her second husband Chris have taken up residence in the Port Macquarie region where the visual splendours of the region inspire her to continue creating.
