  • Artist's medium:   Painter
  • Artist location:   Coffs Harbour NSW

I have been living for many years in the regions of NSW, working and painting for exhibitions in relation to Myth Within Landscape.

In this time with my education in fine arts I have had the opportunity to teach painting and drawing to many people from Wagga Wagga TAFE, Charles Sturt University and Tamworth TAFE, Moree Institute of TAFE at Boggabilla and Toomelah Aboriginal Mission.

“It has been said that men cannot feel really at home in this landscape until they have transformed the natural shapes around them by infusing them with Myth; creating heroes and sacred places”

Haese, Rebels and Precursors, 1981

This theme is integral to my work as an artist living in regional areas of NSW. Within this concept I exhibited my recent paintings at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery (4th May – 13th June 2007). Aligned with this exhibition I

was asked by the director to be the inaugural Artist in Residence. As part of this program I set up my painting studio in the regional gallery where I demonstrated working practices and painting techniques to an enthusiastic public who visited,as well as many people who drove a long distance to gain insight into my painting.

I have continuously pursued my painting, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Through painting I can tell a story of landscape and my space.

In this time I have had solo exhibitions in regional centres of NSW in relation to “Myth Within Landscape”. These exhibitions include:

  • · Wagga Wagga Regional Gallery
  • · Charles Sturt University
  • · Tamworth Regional Gallery
  • · H.R. Gallop Gallery
  • · Riverina Gallery, Wagga Wagga
  • · Lismore Regional Gallery
  • · Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery

In addition I have participated in many more group exhibitions including Watt’s Space Newcastle, Newcastle University Gallery and public collection in NSW & Victoria.
