My art is the vehicle through which I interpret and express the macro and micro world around me. I attempt to deliver a new and different perspective to the subjects, one which may be easily overlooked by the casual observer. I have a desire to seek out, and present to the viewer, the emotional content of the subject. I want the viewer to engage with the work, to emotionally link with it and then to explore the work internally. This connectedness contrasts the age of information and technological in which live, where interpersonal skills flounder and we become increasingly divorced from the humanity within and around us. We drown in the tsunami of images, issues and information the technological age presents. This raging current of streamed information disconnects us from the those around us, and decreases our ability to connect emotionally with our world.

I seek to drill down to the existential nature, or essence, of the subject, then rework it until I am satisfied it portrays what I see as the essential nature of the moment.

My approach is eclectic in nature. It is a fusion post modernistic spontaneity with the controlled process of the perennial masters which drives my approach, attempting at all times to retain a unique freshness.

The diverse nature of any one subject and the myriad possible approaches and perspectives always causes dilemma, which to choose? However, it is the subject which dictates the direction of that choice. My love for the Australian rural and urban landscapes, and the way in which Australians interact with these is also a reoccurring inspiration. As we move, breathe, work and play, our emotional interplays are important to me.

I find that I am often inspired by a fleeting moment, caught in the corner of my. This moment vanishes when the subject is under deeper scrutiny, but is so real none the less and it leaves me with a snapshot, a feeling, that I can then explore. In these moments I sense of the essence of the subject. An unguarded, fleeting moment, captured like a camera flash, can open up an ocean of inspiration. These moments are what I seek to infuse into my canvas.
