I have always had a passion for art and being creative. My eye is always exploring form and shape pondering how it could be used to influence or create my next piece of work.
Nine years ago I began a journey that has bought me to a point where I have a focus and great passion for working with clay. I just love being in my ceramic studio. The happiest days of my week are spent there. The process of taking an idea from conception through to the finished piece is very rewarding and at times extremely challenging. I have heard it described as ‘an extreme sport’.
My work is constructed through hand building, slip casting and throwing. My pots are decorated with handpainted designs, bold colours, sprig application and found objects. I produce both functional and sculptural ceramics, including large installation pieces, and I work mainly in porcelain.
I love the rhythm and flow involved in creating ceramics. I am inspired by nature, spiritual iconology and by my own personal growth. Change gives way to a creative flow where the hands are the conduit between the mind and the clay.
My work can be viewed and purchased at the Bellingen Studios stall in the old section of the monthly Bellingen Community Markets. I also have my work in Retrospect Galleries, Byron Bay and Artisan Gallery, Brisbane.
