I am a local artist.
I started my career in Canberra in the 80′s as a Signwriter.
I was fortunate enough to work with some very talented artists and learnt the ins and outs of the Industry.
Way back then Computer Vinyl Cutting machines were just becoming popular, I remember the hesitation about embracing this new technology. Luckily enough I learnt how to paint signs by hand. Nowadays most sign shops have a vinyl cutting machine as part of their arsenal.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to another Artist who was a Graphic Designer, a Cartoonist and a very talented Illustrator. I was fascinated with Graphic Design and Illustration, and so I decided to study Graphic Designer and Illustration.
I spent a few years working alongside talented Designers and was shown illustration,Cartooning and Graphic Design . At present my business Aardvark Productions has operated in the Coffs Harbour region since 2004.
I specialize in creating Artwork and design for media. Such as Business Cards, Brochures, Web Design Cartoons, Caricatures and Animations. I’m also very interested in Game Design and 3D modeling and Animation.
Below are some samples of my work. I am also very proud of my upcoming exhibition at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery in September. I will be exhibiting a series of Environmental Cartoons so keep an eye out for that. I have also enjoyed success in creating caricatures, and have done caricatures for local people and celebrities like Lee lin Chin a SBS News presenter.
My Cartoons have appeared in the Independent Newspaper and other publications as well as in the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. I enjoy the stimulation of creating cartoons or designs, thinking of the idea or situation and trying to come up with a different slant on things. It’s a fun and a quick medium . When I design a cartoon, I start off with an idea. I create a pencil sketch or a scribble, From there this can be refined and colored by pencil water colour wash or airbrush. Sometimes I even scan them into my computer and use a drawing package or 3d package to get the desired end result .
