“Something for everyone is the aim,” enthused Brett Iggulden, Music Director. “We received lots of great feedback for the music in 2011 and 2012 continues in the same vein. Negotiations are well underway with some exciting Bands and details will be publicised as the Bands are confirmed. This should start happening real soon.”
Festival Organisers are gratified by the turn out to the last Fund Raiser at Gleniffer Hall in November. It wasn’t a capacity crowd by any stretch, but highly respectable considering the weather. Audience and players alike loved the unique ambience of this historic building. Although growing up at Macksville, Ian Date said this was the first time he’d been to the Hall. “Wow” was his comment, amid other words.
And it’s Gleniffer Hall again on Australia Day, Thursday 26th January 2012, with the popular Jazz on the Verandah. It’s the welcome return of The Satin Bowerbirds and the Blue Pegs. The music starts at 4:00pm. It’s on rain or shine, the Hall being a better than viable option if there’s any wet stuff around. The usual picnic atmosphere prevails with sausage and rissole sandwiches, soft drinks, tea and coffee on sale. You are welcome to BYO other drinks and food if you wish. And don’t forget the glasses. Folding chairs etc are a good idea.
Admission is $10.30 for pre-purchased tickets or $15 at the gate. You can pre-purchase at for the bargain Basement Weekend Passes mentioned above.
Looking ahead there’s a new Band with a familiar face or 2. It’s Feel the Manouche, headed by master violinist and vocalist, George Washingmachine. With Clare O’Meara (accordion), Arthur Washington (guitar) and Stan Valacos (db bass), it’s a formidable line-up. It’s on Saturday 25th November at Gleniffer Hall. 8:00pm start. Tickets will be available later on, again with your choice of purchasing options as indicated above.
The Festival’s web site is updated as information becomes available. Another good way of keeping informed is to be on the Festival’s email list. Rest assured that email addresses are not divulged. Email info@bellingenjazzfestival.com.au to be added. You can of course be removed from the list at any time in the future should you so wish. Whilst the Festival office isn’t permanently attended at this time of year, phone messages are attended to regularly – 6655 9345.
