Awards and the industry is

Williams presentation at their monthly meeting. Steve is a renowned
potter who exhibits internationally and is an inspired and inspiring
speaker. He will talk about his residencies in China and at Clay Works
in Victoria. A recent move to the Mid-North Coast where he is head
of Arts and media at Great Lakes TAFE has resulted in a seachange
of materials, kilns and ideas. Steve will use images of his work and
travels to challenge artists to think creatively about their work.

Dorothea Mackellar. Poetry Awards - close
2 June 2008 "Forests,
Feathers, Fins and Fur" is this year's theme for country's largest
poetry writing competition for students, which celebrates the work
of well-known Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar.
"These important awards provide a unique voice for our youth.
I encourage all schools to participate and write about our precious
environment."
This year, the poetry awards take on an environmental theme with the
Namoi Catchment Management Authority (CMA) also throwing its support
behind the event.
Authors Sue Gough and Prue Mason are the judges, and winners will
be notified during NLNW (1-7 September).
A National Presentation Ceremony will be held in Gunnedah on 5 September
2008.

CBCA(NSW) Frustrated Writers Mentoring Program
Awards 2008 - Entries close on Monday

awards to encourage emerging children's writers. Any of your readers,
as well as yourselves, could be eligible to enter.
Children's Book Council
(NSW) Frustrated Writers Mentoring Program awards for 2008 are now
open for all unpublished writers living in NSW and writing for children.
This highly successful mentoring program, funded by ArtsNSW, has nurtured
emerging writers for nearly a decade. Three categories of writers:
Junior (under 15 years), Young Adult (15 to 20) and Senior (over 20).
All kinds of writing are acceptable as
entries and appropriate mentors are carefully chosen to help award
winners to improve their work. On the CBCA(NSW) website are the 2008

2008 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award - Entries
Open 31st March 2008 - Close 1st August
Entry is open to all artists who are residents
of Australia who can submit up to two drawings can be submitted the
2008 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.
In 2008 the award celebrates 20 years of promoting innovation and
excellence in Australian drawing and has increased to $30 000 to coincide
with this important anniversary.
The major award of $15,000 is acquisitive, along with further acquisitions
to the value of $15,000.
A selection panel will select between 45 and 55 works for the award.
The exhibition of the selected entries opens at the Grafton Regional
Gallery Friday 24 October. It is from this exhibition that the judge,
Hendrik Kolenberg, will select the overall winner.

- Flavourtech Exposed 2008 is an inaugural art competition

Myfuture Student Video Competition Launches 12 May 2008
- This year the competition
will run earlier to maximise opportunities for senior high school
students to take part. Competition launch is 12th May with entries
closing on 18th August 2008. This is an exciting opportunity for young
people Australia wide to explore their futures in a creative and innovative
way. The competition has a prize pool of over $5000 and is supported
by valuable production resources. Tune into THE CREW, 5.00pm Mondays
on SBS Television for competition updates and look out for the resource
pack arriving in schools early May.

Women in Business Regional Program -
The Women in Business Regional Program has been developed to improve
the business skills of women who own or operate a small business in
a regional community and assist them to grow their business. The Program
is very practical and is designed to meet the needs of local businesswomen.
The program offers businesswomen a combination of: Business skills
training workshops; Opportunities to work with an experienced business
person, who will act as a mentor to small groups of women on the program;
and Networking events, where you will be able to meet other businesswomen
and representatives of local business organisations.
The program will be held in PORT MACQUARIE and will run over
a 3-month period (Yet to be finalized, commencing May/June). The cost

now open for its Fellowship Program for 2008. In 2008 an International
Fellow will be hosted by Manchester City Galleries, Manchester, United
Kingdom. This opportunity is supported by Arts NSW funding through
the cultural grants program.
A two week placement in Manchester is available to a senior museum
or gallery manager based in regional and remote NSW. The focus of
the Fellowship will be public programming, audience development and

CORANGAMARAH ART PRIZE - Applications close:
Friday, 6 June 2008. - The Corangamarah
Art Prize - con.ceit' 08, is a unique and contemporary Award for 2D
works. Its inspiration will be drawn from a happening or experience
from the year preceding the exhibition. Now in its third year, the
Prize will culminate in an exhibition to be held at the Otway Estate
Winery AND Brewery - Barongarook, Victoria. The $5000 Acquisitive
Prize will be awarded on Opening Night, Saturday 9th August 2008.
This year we have a Second Prize, with the Art Almanac giving advertising
space in their monthly magazine. Artists throughout Australia and
internationally are invited to enter, with the proceeds going to aid
the new Corangamarah Residential Aged Care Facility in Colac. The
winning piece of work will go toward developing Colac Area Health's
art collection.

The Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Service Coffs Harbour is seeking bright
and able young people to work with in the Shadows No More Program.
The Shadows No More Program is an Aboriginal
dance and music program with a relationship and anger management twist
addressing behaviour, running within 3 of the local schools in the
Coffs Harbour area.

within a team 2. Keen interest in Aboriginal Dance 3. Have Danced
before with an Aboriginal dance troupe 4. Worked with children 5.

AART.BOXX 2008 - CALL OUT - AART.BOXX
showcases the works of young and emerging
Australian artists aged 30 and under who have a disability. Now in
its third year, AART.BOXX aims to extend and challenge the current
discourses within contemporary art by highlighting art practices that
are informed by cultures of disability. We are looking nationwide
for recent works created after January 2007 in any art form/medium.
AART.BOXX will be held at Tin Sheds Gallery, a purpose built contemporary
art space affiliated with the University of Sydney from 17 October

Small Grants provide funding to Indigenous organisations and organisations
that work with Indigenous young people and communities to develop
new initiatives, as well as the expansion of existing successful
initiatives. Indigenous Small Grants offer funds up to $5,000 to

Partnerships grant opportunities for 2008... Community
Partnerships is pleased to announce the launch of its re-vamped project
categories for next year:
- Project and professional development (category B) - $0 to $20,000;
and
- Projects with public outcomes (category C) - $20,000 to $35,000
Applicants will now have more opportunities to apply for funding through
these categories, with applications accepted anytime from 1 February
to 1 September 2008. There will be four funding rounds, the first
round open from the 1 Feb to 3 March 2008 followed by three other

Aboriginal Heritage
Projects - Ongoing - Aboriginal Heritage
Projects provide grants of up to $75,000 to conserve Aboriginal heritage
and encourage greater understanding of Aboriginal culture. The program
assists in the conservation of culturally significant Aboriginal sites,
documents community events and contributes to Aboriginal tourism.
The aim is to sustain long-term heritage benefits and create greater
knowledge of Aboriginal traditions throughout the greater community.

The Foundation for Young Australians is now
accepting entries for Your Eyes Only. - Closing Date for entries is
2 September 2008
Your Eyes Only is a creative funding opportunity
for young people 12 to 15 years to submit a creative entry that celebrates
the strengths of their community through their eyes. Applications
will be judged by a committee of young people aged 12 to 15 years
from across Australia.
Successful entrants will nominate a community group working with young
people in their community (for example a school, youth group or sporting
group), to receive a donation of up to $3,000. This donation would
then be used by the community group to further its work by purchasing
much needed equipment or adding funds to an existing program.

Gallery - launching an exciting new
autumn exhibition beginning the 1st of March, 2008 - The new Autumn
collection will introduce six new 2D artists from around the country,
