CONCEPT CARS FUEL THE IMAGINATION
Industrial Desire: Detroit Concept Cars
Grafton Regional Gallery is proud to present Industrial Desire: Detroit Concept Cars, an exhibition that explores the secret world of cutting edge car design. This groundbreaking exhibition of models, drawings and film footage will be on show at the gallery between Wednesday 14 December and Sunday 5 February 2012.
Industrial Desire will take you deep into the exciting and hidden world of car design. The show will excite car lovers and designers with nine quarter-scale models of fantastic concept vehicles including futuristic SUVs, muscle cars and cutting edge eco-friendly city cars. Stunning supporting visuals include original sketches and renderings and multimedia video on the creative process, digital 3D modelling, machining and finishing of ultrahigh quality scale models.
“With the automotive industry on the verge of a massive shift it is timely to look at the creativity and optimism of the next generation of car designers,” says Curator of the show, Leon Fitzpatrick.
An Australian-born industrial designer who studied in Detroit, Leon Fitzpatrick, has handpicked the exhibition pieces from Detroit’s College for Creative Studies, an international centre of excellence in transportation design.
Leon will conduct a floortalk of the exhibition at 11am on Wednesday 14 December. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend this free event.
Industrial Desire is a powerful, informative and inspirational experience for people of all ages.
Presented by artisan in partnership with the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, and toured by Museum and Gallery Services Queensland.
