The Nambucca Valley has four remarkable museums that showcase the rich history of the valley through its extensive collections. The range of objects and articles available to view range from buttons to bombs, mowers to movie sets and everything in between including working demonstrations and interactive exhibits. All four museums have knowledgeable volunteer staff that engage visitors in the collections and make visits to the museum educational, entertaining and memorable. All four museums have different collections but all share one characteristic - 'Appearances can be deceiving'. When viewed from the exterior all four museums look smaller than they really are! Plan to spend hours at the Bowraville Joseph & Eliza Newman Folk Museum, Bowraville's Frank Partridge VC Military Museum, Macksville's Mary Boulton's Pioneer Cottage & Museum and the Nambucca Headland Museum. |

The Mary Boulton Pioneer Cottage & Museum at Macksville features a delightful settler's cottage replica, fitted out with period furniture and household items in a cottage garden setting. While this is the focal point, the museum also has other period buildings including an old Police 'Lock-Up', hand and horse operated machinery and tools and an extensive range of objects that would interest almost everyone.
