The FTO supports and encourages people and projects in the film and television industry in many ways. Some programs assist specifically in project development or provide production investment while others focus on skills development, fostering industry and cultural development or encouraging production in regional New South Wales. The FTO's Regional Filming Fund :
Has been established to assist Australian productions that wish to film in regional NSW. Assistance will be considered for amounts of 50% of the budget costs of filming in regional NSW, not exceeding $50,000 per production. The Fund can be applied to for the production of feature films,television series and serials, documentaries, miniseries and telemovies. Each production must shot for at least one week in regional NSW. From 1st July 2001, there will be $500,000 pa available to assist film makers to cover the additional costs of shooting on locations in regional areas. As of October 2001.... The Regional Filming Fund (RFF) has approved seven productions since it commenced in January this year. The Fund was conceived in recognition of the benefits that film production contributes when filming in a regional area.
The fund is open to Australia feature films, documentaries, television series, serials, mini-series and telemovies. Television and documentary productions must have a network presale and feature films must have a distribution guarantee and have secured the balance of their budget. To be eligible for the RFF, productions must shoot in a regional location for at least one week. The amount of funding allocated is determined by the contribution the production will make to the regional area. YOUNG FILMMAKERS FUND NEWS

Since its inception in 1995, the Young Filmmakers Fund (YFF) has given support to sixty-three projects by new and emerging filmmakers in NSW. The YFF provides a unique opportunity for young talent to break into the highly competitive film and television industry.
Grants of up to $30,000 are available to NSW residents aged eighteen to thirty-five for production or post-production costs. There is no restriction on format or type of film and the YFF has funded short dramas, documentaries, animation and experimental film projects.
Two funding rounds are held each year and a panel comprised of industry representatives and an FTO project officer assesses applications.
Applicants must apply using the YFF application form and include a script, detailed budget, production schedule and other supporting material.

Indent - Music Network for young people
Indent is a new entertainment network for young people which aims to help young people organise entertainment events as well as provide opportunities for local musicians and DJ's. The program works by young people forming a committee within their community and planning four events for the year. With guidance from Indent, the committees will take responsibility for all the aspects of event production whilst working in conjunction with local council and youth and arts organisation or other appropriate support organisations.
The NSW Government has committed $750,000 over three years to help young people stage music event across NSW. The Government is hoping that through the Indent program, 40 entertainment events will be staged in regional areas in the next year. The program will be coordinated by Music NSW, an organisation initiated by the Ministry for the Arts to promote, develop and represent the music industry. OZCO GRANTS NOW OPEN TO SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHORS
From 2002, self-published authors will be eligible to apply for grants in the New Work·category of the Australia Council Literature Board. Self-published works will be now be accepted as evidence of eligibility if the applicant can provide evidence of distribution and at least one substantial review of work in an established literary journal or general national magazine or newspaper.
