A weekend, residential workshop for Mid North Coast writers will be held at Falls Forest Retreat on 1 & 2 March 2008, with participants checking in during the afternoon of Friday 29 February. The program is auspiced by Arts Mid North Coast, with the assistance of the Nambucca Valley Writers and with funding support from 'Arts NSW's Literature and History Program',

At the retreat you can relax in the comfort of fully equipped townhouses, swim in the saltwater swimming pool and explore the surrounding tall eucalypt forests with their ancient rainforest pockets; you can visit Yoorigan Falls and swim in pools at 'The Cascades'. The tutor for the retreat will be Claire Scobie who was born in Newbury, England, in 1972. After studying history at Cambridge, she worked for the Telegraph Magazine for three years and won the Catherine Pakenham Award as Best Young Journalist of the year.

Since 2002 she has lived in Australia, and now writes for numerous publications including the Daily Telegraph, the Independent, the Sydney Morning Herald, Sunday Life, and the South China Morning Post.

Claire is a world traveler, who has worked as a freelance journalist in India, lived in Kathmandu and driven across China. Last year she journeyed across the Tanami Desert in Western Australia, visiting remote indigenous communities. She is the author of the highly acclaimed LAST SEEN IN LHASA. The weekend program will be fully catered (2 x dinners, 2 x breakfasts, 2 x lunches, morning and afternoon teas). The writing workshops will be conducted from 10.00am - 4.00 pm on Saturday and will recommence Sunday morning and continue until lunchtime with departure Sunday afternoon.

Sleeping arrangements vary and include dormitory style accommodation. Cost per person is $143.00 all inclusive. Places are limited so book and pay to secure your place asap, with cheques made out to Arts Mid North Coast Inc.
